Daniel Smyth: iGaming Expert
Daniel has been in the business for more than 15 years. Initially bluffing his way through the poker industry as both a player and writer for WPT Magazine, Daniel used his knowledge of odds and outs to cover other types of gambling.
From SNGs to the WPT
Daniel’s time at the table started at university while studying English Language and Literature. A $50 deposit on PokerRoom.com triggered a passion for poker that continues to burn bright. Tournaments were his first forte, and some decent wins kept his beer bankroll afloat throughout university.
After graduation, Daniel went on to play SNG tournaments with the backing of the then top-ranked US pro Collin Moshman. As well as being staked to play, Daniel coached other members of the team while simultaneously working as a features writer for WPT Magazine.
From the Office to the Field
Progressing from features writer to strategy editor at WPT Magazine gave Daniel an outlet for two passions: writing and poker. However, with more of the industry to explore, he ventured out into the fields of gambling on his own.
Working as a freelancer, he quickly learned that diversity matters. He soon mastered the nuances of casino games and sports betting by using his knowledge of poker strategy. Since then, Daniel’s first-hand experience, expert insights, and creative flair have taken him to all areas of the industry.
Educate and Inform
Today, after producing more than 30,000 articles, he’s become an authority on all forms of betting and gaming, including the rapidly evolving sweepstakes sector. Other than expert insights, Daniel aims to educate people on the importance of responsible gaming.
